About Prohibitioned

Prohibitioned is a themed gastropub and lounge in Downtown Gaylord, northern Michigan (at 139 West Main Street), embracing the Prohibition era with a direct nod to Detroit’s notorious Purple Gang. The venue transports guests back to the Roaring ‘20s and the bootlegging days when Michigan’s early statewide prohibition (starting in 1917) made Detroit a hotbed for smuggling Canadian whiskey across the Detroit River—fueling the rise of the ruthless Purple Gang, a Jewish-American mob syndicate that dominated the region’s illicit liquor trade during national Prohibition (1920–1933). It features craft cocktails inspired by the period (with creative twists on 1920s classics), elevated pub fare reimagining classic dishes from that time, and a speakeasy-style atmosphere complete with secretive, nostalgic vibes—no “snitches” allowed! The space includes lounge areas ideal for relaxed gatherings, evoking the hidden, underground allure of the era’s blind pigs and mob hideouts. Formerly known as spots like Iron Pig and Solli’s, it’s now a fun, history-infused spot for drinks, dining, and a taste of Michigan’s gangster past—open Tuesday through Saturday starting at 4 PM
