About Bobbie's Southern Kitchen

A Restaurant with History Worth Sharing Our story began back in 1972, when Bob and Vida Condra purchased the renowned Bob Jones “Truck Stop.” Not long after, their daughter and son-in-law, Bobbie and Santos Padilla, took the reins, eventually moving the restaurant just down the road on South Flores in 1986 — and that’s when Bobbie’s Café was born. It was there, on the South Side of San Antonio, that Bobbie’s became a local favorite, known for hearty portions, homestyle cooking, and service that made every guest feel like family. After decades of serving up comfort to the community, Bobbie passed the spatula to her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Nancy Ferris, who carried the tradition forward with the same love and dedication. Today, that legacy continues with their son, Greg Ferris, and his wife, Ana. Together, they’re proud to keep the family tradition alive — serving up the same scratch-made, Southern-inspired meals that generations of San Antonians have grown up loving. Because here at Bobbie’s, it’s not just about the food — it’s about family, community, and keeping a piece of South Texas history alive with every plate we serve.
